My name is Erin Beckett, and I am a Milwaukee area portrait photographer, and I totally understand not wanting to get in front of the camera! I used to be the same way, but then I realized how much portraits mean to me and the ones I love. I love looking through old photos and seeing myself, family, and friends frozen in a different time. It always brings a big smile to my face.
I know you’re saying that you would love to have portraits, but you just aren’t photogenic. I get it! When I look back at some of the old portraits of myself, I have the WORST smile on my face! The key to getting past that is comfort. I take my time, so that you are comfortable and relaxed. The goal is to have you completely forget the camera is even there and have your true personality and expressions shine.
Now a little bit about me. To say I love movies might be a bit of an understatement. In 2013 my husband and I took on the task of watching every movie that was nominated for a Best Picture Academy Award. It took us several years to complete that quest, but we did it! Now we are currently watching all of the movies that the National Board of Review has listed as their top 10 films for each year. Once that is marked as completed, we will pick another movie quest to go on.
Because of my fondness for movies, I love to create cinematic portraits in environments that you love that tell your story. It’s important to me to capture you in surroundings that you love, as I want you to own portraits that showcase who you are. I want visitors to look at the portraits you proudly display on your walls, and get a great feeling of who you are.
